Chiang Mai is a city in mountainous Northern Thailand. Founded in 1296, it was the capital of the independent Lanna Kingdom until 1558. The Old City area still retains remnants of walls and moats from its history as a cultural and religious center. It is also home to hundreds of elaborate Buddhist temples, including the 14th century Wat Phra Singh and the 15th century Wat Chedi Luang.

Day 1 – 10 July: Arrival in Chiang Mai and Welcome Dinner
Arrive in Chiang Mai airport. Meet your local guide and depart for your accommodations at Shangri-La Hotel in Chiang Mai. Enjoy an evening at your hotel with a hosted welcome dinner.
Day 2 – 11 July: Ancient Thailand
You will begin your day with an ancient Buddhist temple tour by trishaw, otherwise known as a bike taxi. Your first stop on the Temple Tour is to Wat Chiang Man, the oldest Buddhist temple in Chiang Mai. Then you will continue to Chedi Luang Temple, which was built at the end of the 14th century. Your last stop on the Temple Tour will be Wat Phra Singh, where an important Buddha statue is housed.
After our Temple Tour, we will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. As we continue our tour of ancient Thailand we will visit Doi Pui Natural Park. Doi Pu sits at 1,685 meters above sea level and is the highest peak in the Doi Suthep-Pui National Park. Lastly, we will visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep – one of northern Thailand's most sacred temples that is located inside the Doi Suthep-Pui National Park.
Enjoy an authentic dinner at the River Market Restaurant, located on the River Ping, overlooking the Iron Bridge. The Thai-Burmese Colonial inspired building was built with 95% recycled wood and using traditional construction techniques.
Day 3 – 12 July: A Day with Elephants
Today you will head to Elephant Nature Park located just outside Chiang Mai that specializes in the rescue and rehabilitation of elephants. Elephant Nature Park has been involved in dozens of rescues which have created thriving elephant herds. The park provides a natural environment for elephants, dogs, cats, buffalo and many other animals.
Complete your perfect day with a group dinner at Deck1 restaurant, situated on the riverfront of Ping River. Deck1 features a relaxing atmosphere where you can take in the beauty of Chiang Mai with natural surroundings. This trendy restaurant offers delectable modern Asian foods that perfectly blend Thai, Asian and western cuisines.
Day 4 – 13 July: Thai Cooking & Handicraft Market
Your final full day in Chiang Mai will provide you with an authentic local experience of tastes and crafts. After breakfast, you will depart your hotel for the local market. At the market, you will shop for ingredients to use at a Thai cooking class. The cooking class is tailored to comfortably meet every skill set so no experience is necessary. Just remember to bring your smile and a camera! Some of the delicious dishes you will create include Thai curries, stir-fries, sauces, salads, desserts and even some street-style local Thai cuisine. Enjoy your own creations for lunch.
After lunch, we will head to Sankampaeng, a village surrounded with small cottages that also serve as factories and workshops for artists to create wonderful works of art. You will have the opportunity to watch locals create their crafts and to purchase these handmade masterpieces as wonderful mementos of your time in Chiang Mai.
Dinner will be served at the river front boutique property of Sala Lanna. They offer a riverfront eatery and bar serving Thai-Western and authentic Italian dishes along with an extensive selection of new and old-world wines.
Day 5 – 14 July: Departure Day
Check out of your hotel and depart via transfer to the Chiang Mai airport.
